CallerID number spoofing
From VoIP.ms Wiki
Due to the nature of VoIP calls, It could be possible that other people (external to VoIP.ms service) may use your DID number as their outgoing callerId number when making calls. If this is happening with a recent DID number you ordered from Voip.ms´ lists ( per example: if you got a DID number, which had been used for marketing purposes for its previous owner ), you should not hesitate to contact them via live chat( from the main page - https://www.voip.ms/ - or from the customer portal ) or via ticket ( sending an email to [email protected]) in order to receive the appropriate assistance to get this solved as soon as possible.
Even when this situation is beyond of our control, in case this happens with a DID number you have had for certain time you can also contact them or you can check the following recommendations:
- Next time you receive a call of someone who has received a call from your CallerID number, please ask to this person what is his/her phone number and the company of this number (Please remember number you can find the incoming number and date of your calls on the customer portal -> CDR and reports -> Call Details Records).
- You can send this explanation( or complain ) to the company of this person who received the call from the spoofed callerid number, so they will be able to determine which carrier sent the call to them using the spoofed CallerID number.
- Then the Company that initially sent that call using the spoofed callerid number will be able to warn the reseller or end-user that is incorrectly using your CallerID number.
Taking these measures you will prevent this situation happens again.
