Request authorization

If you want to help by contributing with a new article or adding information to existing articles, please write to [email protected] requesting for edit permission for the username you use in this wiki.

Write a new article

You must be logged in (login or create account) if you want to create a new article in the VoIP.ms wiki.

Step 1: Search article

Please try searching for the article, someone may have already written a similar one.

  • Go to the general search and write the title of your article then press the Go button as shown:

  • If there is no result matching your query, the wiki will present a screen like the following:

Step 2: Create your article

  • All you need to do now is click on the red letters from the search result and you are on your way to creating your new article.
  • You need to take the following into account when creating your new article:
    • Please be aware that the search you entered will be used as the title, with the uppercase and lowercase letters you wrote.
    • The underscore "_" will be converted to white space in the title of the article or any place within the wiki that uses URLs or Images or Media Content.

Step 3: Write your article

  • In the Text Area you can write about the relevant topic you have chosen.
  • It would be a good idea to read the section Wiki Format before you start writing your article in order to maintain standard wiki formatting.


Step 4: Save your article

  • Before saving your article, note the title so you can create links to it from other articles in this wiki.
  • Click on the Save page button at the bottom of the page.




Edit an existing article

You must be logged in (login or create account) if you want to edit an existing article in the VoIP.ms wiki.

Step 1: Search article

  • Go to the general search and write the title of your article then press the Go button as shown:

  • If the article is listed in the results page, then click on the article's title.
  • You will be redirected to the article and you will be able to read its content.


Step 2: Edit the article

  • Click on the Editwiki.png link at the top of the article to view and edit the source code of the article
  • You can now edit the article as you wish.


Step 3: Save the article

  • Click on the Save page button at the bottom of the page.




Wiki Format

  • The following image shows the edition tools provided by the wiki. These tools will let you use a standard format in your articles.

How to use the Toolbar


Toolboldtext.png Bold Text:

Use the Bold Text tool to make words bolder than normal and make them more noticeable than the rest of the text.

Select a part of the text you would like to make more noticeable and then click on the Bold Text tool to make them bolder.

Now click on '''Advanced''' button

The code output should be the selected text surrounded by 3 simple quotes ('''Selected Text''') at the beginning and the end of the text.

You can use the 3 simple quotes to make parts of your article bold without the need of the Bold Text tool.


Toolitalictext.png Italic Text:

Use the Italic Text tool to make part of the content noticeable in an elegant way.

Select the text you would like to make italic a click on the Italic Text tool.

Your softphone: ''should be ready to make calls''

The code output should be the selected text surrounded by 2 simple quotes (''Selected Text'') at the beginning and the end of the text.

You can use the 2 simple quotes to make parts of your article italic without the need of the Italic Text tool.


Toolinternallink.png Internal Link:

Use the Internal Link tool to create a link from a selected text to an article of this wiki.

Select the text you would like to make into a link and press the Internal Link tool.

Please note that the selected text must be the actual name of the article in order for the tool to work.

1.- check our [[Softphones]] article (Simple internal link) 
2.- check our [[Softphones|Write a description here]] article (Internal link with description)

The code output should be the selected text with two square brackets at the beginning and the end of it ([[Selected Text]]).

You can use the 2 square brackets to make internal links without the need of the Internal Link tool.


Toolexternallink.png External Link:

Use the External Link tool to create a link from a selected text to an article outside of the wiki.

Select the text you would like to make into a link and press the External Link tool.

1.- check [http://wikipedia.com] (Simple external link)
2.- check [http://wikipedia.com|Write a description here] (External link with description)

The code output should be the selected text with one square bracket at the beginning and the end of it ([[http://domain.tld/article]])

You can use the square brackets to make external links without the need of the External Link tool.

Please remember adding the http:// or https:// part of the links for this to work as an external link.


Toollevelheadline.png Level 2 Headline:

Use the Level 2 Headline tool to make subtitles or to define a new topic in your article.

Select the text you would like to make into a subtitle and click the Level 2 Headline tool.

==Configuration Details==

The code output should be the selected text with two equal signs at the beginning and the end of it (==Selected Text==).

You can use the two equal signs to make subtitles without the need of the Level 2 Heading tool.


Toolembeddedfile.png Embedded File:

Use the Embedded File tool to link a selected text to an image or media content within the wiki.

Select the text you would like to make into image or media content and click the Embedded File tool.

Please note that the selected text must be the exact name of the file or media content you want to embed.

[[File:File.jpg]] to use the full version of the file
[[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|alt text]] to use a 200 pixels wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description

The output code should be two square brackets at the beginning and the end of the selected text and the File tag.

You can use the two square brackets and the File tag to embed an image or media content without the need of the Embedded File tool.

  • In order to add an image or content media to the article, it should have already been uploaded.
  • Please follow the Upload Files section of this article to upload your own content to the wiki.


Toolnowiki.png No Wiki:

Use the No Wiki tool to ignore any kind of wiki formatting and wiki codes on a specific text.

Select the text you want to ignore wiki formatting and then click on the No Wiki tool.

<nowiki>Unformatted Text</nowiki>

The output code should be to nowiki tags at the beginning and the end of the selected text.

You can use the nowiki tags to prevent text from being wiki formatted without the need of the No Wiki tool.


Toolhorizontalline.png Horizontal Line:

Use the Horizontal Line tool to separate content of the article with a horizontal line.

Set the cursor where you want the horizontal line and then click on the Horizontal Line tool.

The output code should be 4 dashes (----)

You can use the 4 dashes to create a horizontal line without the need of the Horizontal Line tool.




Upload Files

You must be logged in (login or create account) if you want to upload a file to the VoIP.ms wiki.

Step 1: Upload File

  • Go to the Toolbox on the left menu of the wiki and click on the Upload file link.
  • In the upload page, click on the Choose File button. Please note that allowed formats are png, gif, jpg, jpeg and the maximum file size is 25 MB.

  • After choosing the file from your computer you can see that the Destination filename is already filled in with the name of the file you just chose.
    • You can change the name of the Destination filename to whatever you want
    • You should memorize the name of the Destination filename so you can use it in an article.
    • You can add a small summary of the file if you wish.
  • If an image with the same name already exists in the wiki, you will get a message similar to the following:
"A file with this name exists already, please check File:example1.jpg if you are not sure if you want to change it."

  • If you want to replace the previous file with the new one, you just need to ignore this message.


Step 2: Save File

  • Click the Upload file button at the bottom of the page.
  • You will see a preview of the file on the screen, this means that the uploading file process finished correctly.
