Prerequisite and Sub Account creation
You will need your Amazon account ready and have an Alexa App enabled.
Download the BuddyTalk Setup App, available for
- IOS : Apple Store Requires iOS 11.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone.
- Android: Google Play Store Requires Android 6.0 or later
Note: For an enriched user experience with the BuddyTalk BT110, you can download the companion BuddyTalk Mobile App after you setup the BuddyTalk device. Please watch the BuddyTalk Mobile App pairing and usage video for pairing and usage.
To make the telephony function work on the BuddyTalk, you will need a sub-account. Note that you cannot use the same sub account credential for multiple devices.
First, create a new sub account, navigate to the upper navigation bar, below "Sub Accounts" and click, on "Create Sub Account".
Fill the Username and the Password.
To have the ability to make outgoing calls to a specific destination such as a mobile phone, landline phone, you must indicate a valid caller ID.
- Note that using an anonymous outbound caller ID number is not possible.
We suggest indicating a custom description in case you have many devices or sub accounts, this will help you to find directly the wanted sub account with the search bar into "Manage Sub Accounts".
- You will need to open the "Advanced settings" in your sub-account and set to 300 seconds the field "Max Expiry".
If you want to have an internal extension to reach directly this device, you can indicate at the internal extension field.

The initialization of the Buddy Talk BT110 device is separated in 3 stages. 1] Wifi Setup, 2] Amazon Alexa Setup then the 3] SIP Telephony Setup.
In order to configure your VoIP.ms sub-account with your Buddy Talk BT110, you must have completed the first two stages.
On your mobile phone, open the downloaded app "BuddyTalk Setup" App (iOS, Android) and follow the setup process.
After completing the first 2 stages, you will be able to set up your VoIP.ms sub-account to your devices.
- Name: Enter your outbound Caller ID Name (In CAPITAL LETTERS, without special characters and not longer than 15 characters. Spaces are allowed)
- Account ID: Enter your Sub-account username.
- Auth ID: Reenter your Sub-Account username.
- Password: The password associated with your sub-account.
- Domain: Your preferred VoIP.ms PoP server. (eg. montreal3.voip.ms)
- Outbound proxy: (optional), toggle switch (optional)
- Proxy: (optional), Your preferred VoIP.ms PoP server. (eg. montreal3.voip.ms)
- Local SIP Port: You can use the default port 5060, or one of our alternative ports such as 5080 or 42872.

- Preferred transport: You can use the default UDP protocol.
- For the call encryption over SIP-TLS, please see the note below
- NOTE: To use the call encryption over SIP-TLS, you must enable the Encrypted SIP Traffic in your sub-account Advanced Options and use the following settings.
- Local SIP Port: Use the default port 5061 or one of our alternative ports such as 5081 or 42873.
- Preferred transport: You need to select the TLS transport protocol.
When the SIP registration is successful, the phone icon in the upper left corner of the BuddyTalk Setup App will switch to green, indicating successful registration and also you will see the phone LED on the top of the device, changing from RED to GREEN and then OFF.
BuddyTalk setup over TLS-SRTP
To configure your BT110 device for SIP TLS-SRTP, log in to the BT110 device web console (see How to access the BuddyTalk device web console).
- 1. Navigate to Telephony > Profile Config. Select TLS as the "Preferred Transport Protocol": Select SIP-TLS
Note: Select the Proxy Server and the SIP domain will be your preferred VoIP.ms POP server. Your DID needs to match with your PoP Server in order to receive incoming calls.
- 2. To enable Secure RTP (SRTP) – Navigate to Telephony > Port Config: Select edit the Port setting, and then use the pull-down menu to select SDES.
When the SIP registration is successful, the phone icon in the upper left corner of the BuddyTalk Setup App will switch to green, indicating successful registration and also you will see the phone LED on the top of the device, changing from RED to GREEN and then OFF.
Useful Voice Command
When the setup is done, you can easily use some voice commands, such as:
Basic Question
- "Alexa, what time is it?"
- "Alexa, set a reminder."
Basic Call: Digit Dialing
- "Alexa, call [number]."
Basic Call by Contact Dialing
- "Alexa, Call [name]"
Call Management
- Answer the call: "Alexa, answer call"
- Hang Up a call: "Alexa, hang up"
