The Viking model 40TB-IP Talk-Back Ceiling/Wall Speaker is a versatile communication device designed for two-way conversations via SIP technology. It supports standard paging and background music through multicast, offering easy connectivity with a single CAT5/6 cable from a PoE switch. Its shallow depth allows for convenient mounting in standard 2" x 4" stud walls or ceilings. With features like an auxiliary switch input for SIP paging calls, optional wireless remote call buttons, programmable LED indicators, integrated microphone for talk-back, and line-level audio output connections, it offers comprehensive communication capabilities. Additionally, it includes a built-in 6 Watt class D amplifier for driving additional analog 8 Ohm speakers and a programmable relay output for controlling external devices like door locks or strobe lights.

Pre-requisists

  • Be connected on the same LA as the 40TB-IP.
  • Viking IP Programming software to access the device. It can be downloaded directly throug the Viking Product page. Here (https://vikingelectronics.com/products/40tb-ip/).
  • In your VoIP.ms Sub-Account cofiguration, you must select the codec G722 and G711u. G722 is mainly used for internal calls to have an HD audio. (You must have this codec selected on all your devices that would reach this device).

Programming

Download and install the programming software

1. Go to the Viking product page HERE, and locate the "SOFTWARE & DOWNLOADS" section. Find and select the "IP Programming Software."
2. Download and install the programming software by either saving or opening the file. Then, run the setup by clicking on "setup Viking IP Programming.exe."
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation process.
4. Once installed, access the Viking IP Programming application by clicking on its icon on your desktop. This will open the main screen, allowing you to program any 40TB-IP device connected to the same LAN.
Note: Ensure that your PC is connected to the same LAN as the 40TB-IP for proper functionality.

Connection / Deconnection

1. Open the "Viking IP Programming" software on your PC. The start screen will display a list of connected Viking IP speakers on the network.
2. Select the desired 40TB-IP speaker from the list by clicking on it or double-clicking the speaker.
3. If no username and password have been programmed and the security code is still set to default (845464), no additional information is required to connect. Otherwise, a pop-up window will prompt for the username and password. If the security code has been changed from the default, it will also ask for the correct security code.
4. If multiple 40TB-IP speakers share the default name "VIKING_MK64_Vik02", use MAC addresses to differentiate them.
5. To finish programming, click the "Disconnect" button at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, closing the program will automatically disconnect the unit.

Configuring the 40TB-IP Network Settings

1. Open the “Viking IP Programming” software on a windows PC that is connected to the same LAN as the 40TB-IP speaker to be

programmed.

2. The window in the upper left corner of the menu will show you each 40TB-IP speaker that is connected to that LAN. Select the unit with the same MAC address shown on the label located next to the Ethernet connector on the 40TB-IP speaker.
3. Click on the “connect” button. A default 40TB-IP has no username or password programmed, the security code is set to “845464” and when configured this way, you are instantly connected to the 40TB-IP. If the 40TB-IP has been programmed with a username and password, a pop up window will ask for the username followed by the password. If the unit’s security code has been changed from

“845464”, it will then prompt for the correct security code, then click “retry”.

4. The program will then read and display the 40TB-IP speaker’s IP and programming settings.
5. Click on the “IP Settings” tab.
6. Where the SIP Server / Peer to Peer Settings section
6.1 Select Server on the dropdown menu.
6.2 In the field to the right of the drop-down menu.: Enter the VoIP.ms pop server in the field you have indicated. (Note in order to reach the device, it must be on the same pop as your other devices).
6.3 Outbnd Proxy: Re enter the VoIPms POP Server. If you want to use our alternative port you can enter it as "popserver:port"
6.4 Authentic. ID.: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account SIP username.
6.5 Username: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account SIP username.
6.5 Password: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account SIP username.
6.6 Caller ID: This should be the outbound caller ID number. See the notification below.

⚠️ IMPORTANT - Caller ID

  • Entering outbound Caller ID Name, it must be in CAPITAL LETTERS. This will appears more clearly/visible on some devices.
  • You must NOT use any special characters. They will not be displayed and it prevents potential outbound call issues.
  • Do NOT exceed 15 characters. Traditional canadian providers will not show more than 15 characters. We suggest shrinking or adapt the name.
  • Spaces are allowed in a caller ID name but count as a caracters. (do not exceed 15 chars. in total).
6.7: Register Fails: Select Re-Resolve
7. Where the section Gateway Ping / Registration Time / Codecs
7.1: Regist. Time (Min): Indicate 1.
7.2: SIP Codecs: Select G722, G711u. (You must ensure that the codec G722 is selected under your Sub-Account in order to have HD Calls for better audio clarity. And it must be choose on all your devices).
8. Click the button Apply.
