Account Settings
The account settings Page is one of the most important pages on your customers portal, it will help you out as its name points out, to set all the proper ways to use your account, and that will affect the global settings on your account, from Device type, to routing and even security of your account. You will be able to access your account settings by unfolding the Main Menu.
On your Account settings page you will be able to set many important changes like
- Routing: Where you will be able to choose your route for outgoing calls(value or premium) along with the Carrier for your Toll free calls.
- Account Restrictions: This is one of the most important settings label. It will help you out setting how long you can stay on a local or international call, and also you will be able to select which countries are allowed for you, to call out, or if you do not want to make international calls, you can lock them too. As a personal recommendation, I strongly suggest you to check this label first, and make sure to make the proper changes, so in case that your account or sub account gets compromised, these options will limit the access of the account.
- General: Here you will set your dialing mode, your caller Id, your voice mail associated to your main account and also enable the music on hold.
- Security: This is where you will be able to change your Customers portal password, and your main SIP/IAX password, also you can enable the option of displaying the passwords on the customers portal, in case that you need it.
- Inbound settings: This is very important, here is where you will set your device and SIP or IAX protocols for inbound calls. If you have not set the proper device here, you wont be able to receive calls.
- Notifications: This is optional, you can set an amount here, and whenever you are below that amount, you will receive a notification from our system, to a specified email address. It is set by default to $10.
- Default DID routing: These settings define the Preconfigured Routing Options which are applied to new DIDs when they are ordered.
However, when you order new DIDs, you will also be able to change the settings for the DIDs in the order page.
- Newsletter: You can enable this option if you want to receive newsletters from VOIP.ms.
- Advanced: These are the advanced settings used by the systhem when you make or recive calls. You can select the Type of NAT, the DTMF Mode and the Codecs used by the main account.
Account Routing
These settings define the routes the system will use when you place calls to either USA48, Canada, Toll Free or International Numbers.
For Canada and USA there are two available options:
Value is the greatest price for Canada and USA. This permit us to offer Canada starting as low as 1/2 cent per minute, depending on location, and USA at a flat rate of 1.05 cent. Our value rate is of the best quality we could find and targeted at end users and resellers who are looking for the best wholesale prices without any volume commitment. CallerID pass-through is not always guaranteed to work on this route.
Premium has a flat rate of 1.25 cent for both USA48 and Canada and is routed through established and renowned tier-1 carriers always delivering the same level of quality, at a price that is a little higher than our value option. This price is intended to end-users with critical business calls or resellers who are willing to pay a little more for assured quality, but still less than other US48 tier-1 providers. CallerID pass-through is guaranteed for this route.
For International numbers (Outside of USA48 and Canada) there are also two available options:
Value is the greatest price we could find. Our value rate is of the best quality we could find and targeted at endusers and resellers who are looking for the best wholesale prices without any volume commitment.
Premium is routed through established and renowned tier-1 carriers that can deliver the same a higher level of quality to some destinations, at a price that is a little higher than our value option. This setting is intended to end-users with critical business calls or resellers who are willing to pay a little more for assured quality.
Toll Free Routing: This define the route the system will use when you place a Toll-Free call to Canada or USA.
For Toll free calls routing, the available options are:
Value is free to use. CallerID passthrough and quality is not always guaranteed and the route is offered.
Premium calls has a cost of 1.06 cent per minute. It offers a better CallerID passthrough and overall quality.
The final setting on the Account routing label is the Toll Free Carrier, which defines the type of carrier that will be used when you dial a toll-free number.
For example: this feature can be useful for west based Canadian customers who wish to use the Seattle server but have their toll-free termination calls go through a Canadian carrier.
These are the available options:
Server Default: The Carrier for the termination of your toll-free call will be chosen depending on the geographical location of the server. American Servers will dial through an American Carrier and Canadian servers will use a Canadian Toll-Free carrier.
American Carrier: Your Toll-Free calls will always go through an American Carrier, even if you use a Canadian server.
Canadian Carrier: Your Toll-Free calls will always go through a Canadian Carrier, even if you use an American server.
Account Restrictions
These settings define the restrictions the system will use when you place calls to either USA48, Canada or International Numbers.
Allow 411 dialing
When enabled, users can Dial 411 for directory assistance at the cost of $0.99 per call. Please note that XXX-555-1212 is disabled on our system. The only way to reach directory assistance is by dialing 411.
Allow International Calls
When Disabled, calls placed to destinations outside USA/Canada will be automatically rejected. Please noticed that for new accounts, this option is set to "No", by default. You can choose while enabling it, to apply it just for the main account, or globally.
Max. Call Time for US48/Canadian Calls
Are you worried about spending too much on a call? Set the maximum time for calls to US48/Canada Numbers with this option. If a call to a US48/Canada Number exceeds the maximum time, it will be automatically hung up.
Max. Call Time for International Calls
Just as the US48/Canadian calls option, this will set the maximum time for calls to International Numbers. If a call to an International Number exceeds the maximum time, it will be automatically hung up.
International Amount Restriction
Still worried about how much will you spend on International calls? Here, you will be able to set the maximum amount per minute for calls to International Numbers. If the minute rate for an International Number exceeds the maximum amount, the call will not be connected.
Allow Calls to Countries
Here you can select Regions or Specific Countries to allow calls. In order to allow calls to a specific country you can click the name of the region to expand the countries within it and check the box next to the country. If you want to select a complete region you can check the box next to its name and all countries within that region will be selected. You can also select all countries by checking the box next to 'Allow All'. Move the mouse over the name of a specific region to see the a list of selected countries. You need to click the 'Save' button to save your changes. If you call to a country not allowed in this section, the call will not be connected.
Please note that if you have international calls disabled, it will prevent calling to the international countries you have enabled in this list.
Remember to always click on "Apply all" once that you are done with all the changes.
General
These are the general settings used by the systhem when you make or recive calls.
Dialing Mode
- North America (Recommended): You can dial to countries part of the North American Numbering Plan Administration by dialing 10 or 11 digits. (with or without the 1 prefix). You'll need to use the 00 or 011 prefix to call international numbers.
- E164: You dial numbers by using Country Code first. You don't need to send the 00 or 011 prefix when using this mode, but it's still supported.
CallerID Number
If you are using an ATA, IP Phone or Softphone, you probably want to set this here. It is important to pass a valid caller id to ensure proper termination. If you have a a device capable of passing its own CallerID number such as a soft switch or PBX, you can leave this blank to set the CallerID on your side.
Voicemail Associated to the Main Account
You can select a mailbox to be associated to the main account.
This will do two things:
- Accessing Voice Mail: When you dial *97 from your main account, it will not prompt for the voicemail ID. It will also not prompt for the password if you have selected "Skip Password" option in the voicemail configuration.
- Mail Waiting Indicator: When there are new messages, notice of new message(s) will be sent. This will lead to different results depending on your type of adapter, soft phone or IP phone. For example, when using a Linksys ATA adapter, it's usually a stutter tone with periodic ring, IP phones usually use a stutter dial tone when you pick up the line and are equipped with a blinking light, soft phones usually show up a Voicemail Icon in the dial display.
Music On Hold
Most IP Phones and Softphones inform the VoIP server they are connected to when the HOLD Button is pressed. If you would like to present music to the person you place on hold, you can select it here.
