What is Multi-Tenancy
This feature lets you organize extensions by location instead of by account, making it possible to reuse the same extension numbers across different sites without conflict.
How it works:
- Locations: Each site or office functions as its own workspace.
- Sub-Accounts: Users within a location.
- Extensions: Each sub-account can have extensions (e.g., 101, 102, 103). The same numbers can also exist in other locations independently.
Benefits:
- Keeps multi-office setups structured and easy to manage.
- Eliminates extension number conflicts between sites.
- Simplifies assigning, tracking, and identifying extensions per location.
In short, multi-tenancy with location-based extensions enables clean organization, easy management, and safe reuse of extension numbers across multiple locations.
Setup Multi-Tenant Locations
1. To create your multi-tenant, head to Sub Account menu, Multi-Tenant Locations
2. Next, click on Add Location.
3. Fill the following information:
- Location Description: The description of the location. E.g: Florida Office, 2nd building, Cottage.
- Search Sub Account / Extension Number:Here, select the sub account that you want it to be part of the group, and then set the specific extension to be reached within the group. E.g: 1, 100, 101. Keep repeating this step for all the necessary sub accounts for this multi-tenant location.
4. Once you've added all your sub accounts and their extension within the tenancy, press Create.
Your sub accounts will now all be able to easily reach each other with those internal extensions!
You can create new groups to have internal extensions assigned for a subset of sub accounts.
Additional Settings
Extension Reachable by Anyone
If you want some sub accounts to be reachable by anyone, or to see the sub accounts settings for multi-tenancy, simply head to Sub Accounts menu, Manage Sub Accounts, and edit the sub account you want to review.
Next, head at the bottom of the page and you will see the internal extension option. That's where you can either change the group for the sub account, or have it reachable by anyone within your account.
SIP URIs
For a SIP URI to reach an account that is reachable by anyone, the format is the usual - {accountID}{extension}@{VoIP.ms server} e.g: [email protected]
- 123456 being your main accountID.
- 101 being the extension of the sub account.
- @montreal1.voip.ms being the server where the sub account is currently registered to.
For sub accounts within a multi-tenant location, the format changes - {accountID}#{locationID}#{extension}@{VoIP.ms server}
e.g: 123456#33#[email protected]
- 123456 being your main accountID.
- #33 being the location unique identifier.
- #101 being the extension of the sub account.
- @montreal1.voip.ms being the server where the sub account is currently registered to.
