What is Multi-Tenancy

This feature lets you organize extensions by location instead of by account, making it possible to reuse the same extension numbers across different sites without conflict.

How it works:

  • Locations: Each site or office functions as its own workspace.
  • Sub-Accounts: Users within a location.
  • Extensions: Each sub-account can have extensions (e.g., 101, 102, 103). The same numbers can also exist in other locations independently.

Benefits:

  • Keeps multi-office setups structured and easy to manage.
  • Eliminates extension number conflicts between sites.
  • Simplifies assigning, tracking, and identifying extensions per location.

In short, multi-tenancy with location-based extensions enables clean organization, easy management, and safe reuse of extension numbers across multiple locations.

Setup Multi-Tenant Locations

1. To create your multi-tenant, go to the Sub Account menu and select Multi-Tenant Locations to begin creating your multi-tenant.

2. Click Add Location to create a new location.

3. Fill in the required details::

  • Location Description: Enter a descriptive name for the location (e.g., Florida Office, 2nd Building, Cottage).
  • Search Sub Account / Extension Number: Select the sub-account to include in the group, then assign the extension number (e.g., 1, 100, 101). Repeat this process for each sub-account that should belong to the multi-tenant location.

4. After adding all required sub-accounts and their extensions, click Create to finalize the tenancy.

Your sub-accounts can now easily reach each other using the assigned internal extensions. You can also create additional groups to assign internal extensions to specific subsets of sub-accounts as needed.

Additional Settings

Extension Reachable by Anyone

If you’d like certain sub-accounts to be reachable by anyone (instead of belonging to a specific group), or if you want to adjust their multi-tenancy settings:

1. Go to the Sub Accounts menu and select Manage Sub Accounts.
2. Edit the sub-account you want to review.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Internal Extension option.

Here, you can change the group assigned to the sub-account, or make it reachable by anyone within your account.

SIP URIs

To call a sub-account that is not in a specific group and is reachable by anyone, use: {accountID}{extension}@{VoIP.ms server} e.g: [email protected]

  • 123456 being your main accountID.
  • 101 being the extension of the sub account.
  • @montreal1.voip.ms being the server where the sub account is currently registered to.

For sub-accounts within a multi-tenant location, the format includes the location ID: {accountID}#{locationID}#{extension}@{VoIP.ms server} e.g: 123456#33#[email protected]

  • 123456 being your main accountID.
  • #33 being the location unique identifier.
  • #101 being the extension of the sub account.
  • @montreal1.voip.ms being the server where the sub account is currently registered to.

To find the location unique identifier, simply head to Sub Account, Multi-Tenant Locations. You will then notice Location Number next to your current entries. That's the location that you will need to use in your SIP URI string.
