Connecting the Mediatrix device to your network

The Mediatrix C7 and Mediatrix 4100 series have two Ethernet ports:

  • ETH1 (or WAN in the 4102): connect the unit to your network through this port, it is set to get an IP address from a DHCP server.
  • ETH2 (or LAN in the 4102): by default it has IP 192.168.0.10, this port can be used to directly manage the device.



If the Power LED is on, the device has an IP address, in such case:

  • Connect a phone to one of the telephony ports and Dial: *#*0
  • The system will playback the IP address the device has (Example: 192.168.1.2)


If the Power LED is blinking, the unit has not received an IP address.

  • Check the network cable
  • Check if the port in your network switch is active
  • If the problem remains then use the second Ethernet port to directly connect your computer to the unit.

Connecting to the Mediatrix GUI for the first time

Using your favorite web browser from a computer on the same network, open the IP address the device got from the DHCP server.Example: http://192.168.1.2

  • Default username: public
  • Default passowrd: <Empty> (no password by default)

Configure your VoIP.ms credentials

  • Go to the SIP menu
  • Select the Servers sub-menu
  • In the Registrar host field seize the registrar FQDN associated to your account. Example: server.voip.ms
  • In the Proxy host field seize the proxy FQDN associated to your account. Example: server.voip.ms
  • Click on the Apply button

Click on the SIP Menu

Sub-menu Registration

    Username: 100000 (Replace this with your VoIP.ms username)
    Friendly Name: John Smith (Replace with your name or company name)
    Select Enable in the Register drop-down menu

Note: Depending on the model and the number of lines, you may configure from 1 to 24 ports.

Click Submit

Click the SIP Menu

Sub-menu Authentication

Click Edit on the first row

Apply to: Endpoint

Endpoint: Choose the FXS port for which you want to configure the Authentication

Validate Realm: disable

Username: 1000000 (Replace this with your VoIP.ms username)

Password: ******** (Type the VoIP.ms account/sub-account password)

Click Submit & Refresh Registration

Click the Telephony Menu CODECS Sub Menu Disable G.711 a-law for both Voice and Data Next to G.729 click Edit and change the Voice priority to 10

To support User name with ‘’_’’

Click the Call Router menu

Sub-menu Auto-Routing

Change the Criteria Type to SIP Username

Click Apply Config

In order to be able to access the star numbers (e.g. *97 for voicemail), you need to add the proper DTMF map to the Mediatrix configuration.

To do so, click the Telephony menu and then the DTMF Maps sub-menu.

In the 2nd row of the table, type *xx in the DTMF Map column, and leave the Transformation column empty.

If your DHCP server does not provide an SNTP Server, you can configure it manually.

Click the Network Menu and then sub-menu Host

Change the SNTP Configuration Source to Static

Configure the SNTP Host to: time.nrc.ca or any other SNTP server.

Click Apply Config


At the end of the configuration, if you see the message Some changes require to restart Click on services table and restart all Required Services
