Create a New Trunk

In order to create a new trunk, In your left navigation bar, click on [PBX] > [External] then, [Trunks]. Some information is needed to be filled.

  • Technology: Choose the technology SIP.
  • Description: Enter a description for this trunk.
Device for Outgoing Calls (Peer)
  • Outbound Username: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account username.
  • Host: Enter your preferred VoIP.ms PoP Server. Note that your DID needs to be on the same PoP Server as your PBX in order to received incoming calls.
  • Port: 5060 or any alternative port that we offer such as 5080 and 42872
  • Remote Username: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account username.
  • Remote Secret: This is the password associated with your VoIP.ms sub-account.
  • From User: Enter your VoIP.ms sub-account username.
  • From Domain: Enter the same PoP server as the host used.
  • Insecure: Choose [Port, Invite]
  • Allow Inbound Calls: Set it to [Yes]
  • Qualify: Set it to [Yes]
Register String
  • Use Default: Set it to [Yes] (The whole string will automatically be generated.


---- CALLER ID NOTE ----
  • NOTE: If you would like to set your outbound Caller ID Name in number directly in the trunk, it will override everything that your extension/Outbound Routes will try to pass. Enter the Trunk CID and select Overwrite CID: Always
If you enter a CallerID Name, it must be in CAPITAL LETTERS, without any special characters (Spaces are allowed) and NOT longer than 15 characters.
The Outbound CallerID Name will only work when you call a Canadian number. For the US, you will need to update your record associated with your CallerID Number, in the CNAM database, by requesting an update to our support.


Now, Click on the [Advanced Tab]

Custom Settings
  • Type: Select [Peer]
  • Parameter: sendrpid
  • Value: PAI
  • Enabled: Set it to [On]


Then Click on the button [Save] at the bottom of the page.

Create a new Outbound Route

We will need to create an outbound route, Go to the left navigation bar and click on [PBX] > [External] then [Outbound Routes].

General
  • Description: Enter a description for this Outbound Route.
  • Trunks: Select your new VoIP.ms Trunk that you have just created.
  • CID: If it is not set in your VoIP.ms Trunk, you may enter here your Company Name for example SEE THE NOTE BELOW.
  • Overwrite CID: [ALWAYS] if you would like to use this CID associated with this Outbound Route. (Your trunk Overrite CID settings must be set to [NEVER] to use it)
Dial Patterns
  • Prefix: You may enter a prefix if needed such as [9] if you want your extensions to dial [9] before the outgoing number. Note that the number [9] will not be sent to VoIP.ms.
  • Pattern: You can indicate multiple pattern matching for an outbound call. E.g. for a North American number, you can use NXXNXXXXXX/1NXXNXXXXXX (N = digits between 0-9 and X = digits between 2-9).

Create a New Inbound Route

In order to receive inbound calls from your DIDs, you will need to create an inbound route, Go to the left navigation bar and click on [PBX] > [External] then [Inbound Routes].

General
  • Routing Method: Default
  • Description: Enter a description for this Inbound Route.
  • DID Pattern: You must enter your DID number as appear in your VoIP.ms excluding any dots, parentheses, etc.
  • Inbound Destination: This will the destination where your incoming call from this DID will be routed.
