Back to Basics: What is an IP Phone?
From VoIP.ms Wiki
IP phones are physical office phones that make use of Voice over IP. It connects the phone service through the existing internet infrastructure, by using an Ethernet cable. IP phones include cordless phones, conference phones and desk phones which resemble a lot like a traditional.
That being said, using an IP phone for your business communication requirement offers the same experience as that of using a traditional phone system. However, there are some key differences between the two which include access to advanced features and cheaper call rates as compared to traditional phone systems.
How do IP Phones Work?
IP Phones work by reading voice signals and converting them into digital signals, which are then sent over the internet in the form of digital packets. In other words, an IP Phone handles the telephone conversation and routes it through a VoIP phone provider over the internet. The IP Phone receives these digital packets and converts them into voice signals again to be heard by the receiver.
Advantages of IP Phones
IP Phones are a great alternative that can be used in any location, thus making it easier for businesses to expand and hire workers to work remotely. As businesses do not have to invest in copper wires, VoIP becomes a smart spending option for businesses as setting up VoIP system is easy as it does not require your company to maintain any hardware on-site.
